Says he ‘doesn’t want kids’.
Oy vey.
What a mess McCain has put himself in with this one. If anything, his pick has really mobilized the people of America to take action and engage in discussions about this year’s presidential campaign. I sure hope people register to vote in this year’s election. I’ve never been as engaged in politics as I have this year. This entire fiasco and stupid political decision has insulted me as a woman and I DO NOT want someone who recklessly made such a decision as picking an unknown, inexperienced and extremely conservative woman to be the Vice President of this USA.
Has anyone else noticed how no one can find much fault with Obama’s pick in Biden? Sure Obama may not have lots of “experience” either, but the sound pick in Biden as his partner and running mate leaves little room for controversy or dismay. I truly see Obama and Biden as truly working well together and really understanding the necessity of a partnership and the leveraging of each other’s experience in running the nation. I can’t say the same for McCain. I don’t see the mutual respect, the history of having worked together, or the balance of experience in their partnership. The way they interact is awkward at best.
Obama has been smart about laying low and not jumping to react to McCain’s pick. I think McCain’s decision says it all:
- He lacks sound judgment. She brings nothing spectactular to the table in terms of experience. Are we to believe that Palin is fit to be second in command?? McCain has, afterall, has had bouts with cancer and is 72 years old. I shudder to think that Palin could be so close to running this country, should anything happen to him if he’s elected.
- He purposely announced his pick of Palin immediately after the DNC, stealing the thunder from Obama’s great speech, which proves to me that McCain is just playing stupid political games, as if his announcement will make me forget about the great DNC rally.
- He insults the average American woman by thinking that he’ll get our votes just because Palin has BREASTS (ugh). Palin is NOT in the same league as Hillary. AT. ALL. WTF!!!
- I waiver on this one, but what does it say about a woman who just had a baby in April who then goes to run to VP? Can she really balance the great responsibilities of the nation along with motherhood? Of a child with Down’s syndrome nonetheless?? She’d better have a great network of family and friends, or a nanny. But if she has either, what does that actually say? This conservative mom won’t be around much to care for her child. Is that message in line with those conservative Christians?? I really have mixed view on this particular point.
- Her 17 year old daughter is pregnant! While I also waiver on this one too, I think McCain was ruthless and I feel somewhat sorry for Palin and her family. She’s clearly a pawn in his political agenda. This just proves to me that McCain put his own selfish interest ahead of the nation’s. I think it’s unfortunate that the daughter is now political fodder, as is the teenage father of her daughter’s child, but they brought it on themselves. What does it say about Palin as a mom? What does it say about the way she instills values and judgment in her daughter? What does it say about McCain who supposedly knew all of this and still went ahead with his pick? What does it say about Palin agreeing to be his running mate? Did she consider the intense scrutiny her family would be under? Etc. etc. I’m mixed on this train of thought too.
- It’s been clearly pointed out that McCain didn’t vet out Palin before announcing her as his running mate. WTF??? There’s due process and sound judgment to be made throughout the campaign process. He clearly didn’t care about that. If she was all that he claims her to be as a solid VP candidate, then he could have announced her at any point during the RNC and the American public would have been wowed by her. Instead, he just wanted to move ahead with his own selfish desire to cut short the momentum that Obama clearly had created last week.
- All the interviews I’ve seen where he is asked about Palin’s ability to serve as VP, and interviews where he is pressed for specifics about what he’s do as president, he just keeps bringing up the fact that he’s a POW and proudly served his country. Ugh. if I see him say that once more time I will scream!!! I respect the fact that he served our country, but I’m pretty tired of hearing it over and over and OVER and OVER again. Give me an answer with some substance, and then I might start to view you as my President. Sheesh!!!
- She’s being investigated for abuse of power as governor. I am still gathering information about this, but overall I feel like there’s too much unknown about her to make me feel comfortable about her as VP. The more I read and the more I research her background, the more I am convinced that there is NO WAY I will vote for McCain-Palin. His entire campaign just reeks of games and a total disregard for the “real” change that America wants.
Obama has clearly inspired me and has really motivated me to become more involved in this year’s election. For the first time in a very long time I feel hopeful about the future of America. I feel hopeful that as I enter midlife, the world could possibly be a less scary place. McCain has done nothing but make me realize how truly sick and tired I am of the same old crappy presidency we’ve been going through these past years. if anything, I thank McCain for making it clear who the real President should be!
Obama 2008!!!
